My 5 Favorite Coffee Makers and Accessories of 2014

Favorite Coffee Accessories of 2014

Table of Contents

Happy 100th post to! I can’t think of a better way to wrap up the year.

2014 has been a roller coaster of a year – good thing I had plenty of coffee to keep me afloat.

I’m really looking forward to 2015 though, and I already have a ton of things lined up that I’m excited to share with you.

However, I won’t yammer on about them here. If you want to stay updated on all things coffee for 2015 and beyond, make sure you sign up for my email list here.

5. The Kone by Able Brewing

Able Brewing Kone Filter

The Kone is actually one of the coffee tools on this list that I haven’t had the pleasure of using yet. However, as one of the only USA made coffee makers out there, there is no question that I had to put it on this list.

This is one of the first coffee makers (err, filters) I plan to review in 2015.

4. Acaia Smart Scale

Acaia Scale

Just like the Kone, the acaia scale is a Kickstarter-backed coffee making product that has revolutionized brewing. It also comes in at #4 on the list because I still haven’t tried it.

So what’s so great about this gram scale?

Well, for one, it syncs up with an Android and iOS compatible app tracking all kinds of cool data. But my favorite feature has to be how the scale calculates how much water to add to your brew after you weigh your coffee. I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time.

Sure, I could use a calculator or brush up on my math skills, but coffee making should be as easy as possible in my opinion.

Here’s a sample pour-over brew with the acaia scale:

3. Bonavita BV1900ts

The new Bonavita 8 cup coffee maker hit the shelves in the fall, and I have to say that it’s a winner over its predecessor, the BV1800.

You can check out my full review as well as a side-by-side comparison here.

2. Bruer

Cold Bruer - Cold Brew Coffee Maker

I just barely missed the opportunity to become a backer for yet another coffee Kickstarter-backed product. Fortunately, I was able to purchase one of these shortly after its launch, and I’m still loving it.

If you want to make cold brew and/or iced coffee the right way, you should definitely check Bruer out.

Full review here.

1. Behmor Brazen Plus

Brazen Plus Coffee Maker

The coffee maker that replaced my coffee maker: the Brazen Plus. An SCAA Certified juggernaut of an auto drip coffee maker.

Not only does the Brazen Plus make great coffee, but it can also do pretty much everything you could ever want it to do. Sorry, no espresso though.

You can check out the full review here.

What are your favorite coffee tools from 2014?

This is my list, and I’d love to hear about yours! Please share your favorite coffee making accessories from 2014 in the comments below. Thanks for reading…and Happy New Year!
