What is the fastest coffee maker?

Turns out, this isn’t a simple question to answer, because it really depends on several factors.

  1. How many cups of coffee are you making?
  2. What type of brew method are you using?

Obviously, the more cups of coffee you want to brew, the slower your coffee maker (or brew time) will take to complete the task.

Similarly, there are some brew methods that inherently take longer…meaning a particular brand will not matter when it comes to brew speed.

Keep in mind, faster is not necessarily better when it comes to making great coffee. In fact, the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) requires that its certified brewers have a brew time between 4 and 8 minutes.

Does this mean that every coffee maker that brews under 4 minutes makes bad coffee?

Absolutely not!

Some of the best manual brewing methods do not require brew times that are this long. In fact, exceeding 3 minutes in many cases will over-extract (bitter) your coffee. The chart below merely outlines the machines that can make the most cups of coffee in the quickest amount of time.

The following 5 coffeemakers won’t keep you waiting long for your coffee, as they have some of the fastest average brew times out there. A few of these coffee makers can even get you a full pot of coffee in under 3 minutes.
