Stumptown Coffee - Winter Cheer

  • Mostly natural ingredients
  • Tastes great

  • Carrageenan
  • Little cold brew flavor
  • Available in Winter only

Stumptown Coffee is not gonna let this cold weather stop them from pumping out new cold brew concoctions. And my guess is that they don’t want you to think of cold brew coffee as a Summer-only drink with their latest offering, the “Winter Cheer.”

I’ve already reviewed some of Stumptown’s cold brew RTD offerings, and they are some of the best I’ve ever had. This includes their original cold brew, cold brew with milk, and cold brew with chocolate.

The Winter Cheer is yet another good option, but how does it compare to the other offerings? I let you know my thoughts in the video below.

The Review

The coffee flavor was definitely there, but it wasn’t as prevalent as the spices that were added. Cinnamon and clove in particular, given the strong gingerbread flavor I was picking up.

The taste doesn’t really have anything to do with cold brew coffee as far as I’m concerned, but at least there is still coffee flavor.

Score: 3.5

I picked this up for under $4 which is actually a good price for an RTD cold brew. In fact, it may have cost less than the other cold brew offerings from Stumptown that were in stock at Whole Foods.

Score: 4.5

The fact that there is Carrageenan really brings down the score here. I also thought that they took the ingredients list a little bit too far, because the cold brew coffee isn’t too noticeable.

However, they use cane sugar and rbst free half and half along with the other natural spices, so I have to give Stumptown props for this.

Score: 3

Widely available and offered in all Whole Foods markets currently. I don’t expect this to be available once we are no longer in Winter though, so you should pick one up before it comes off the shelves.

Score: 4

Final Thoughts

This was my least favorite of Stumptown’s Cold Brew options, simply because the coffee wasn’t at the front and center of the flavor profile. I still enjoyed it though, and it was definitely reminiscent of the Holiday Season.

If you’re looking for a caffeinated eggnog substitute, then I would definitely recommend giving the Winter Cheer a shot!

Tried it?

  • I tried this thinking that it might bring a bit of Winter to very warm California. It was nice, but not enough coffee flavor. I want a coffee drink and this was more of a milk drink. Disappointed. I’ll keep looking for Winter though.
